Chief Privacy Officer

Responsibilities include providing legal advice and guidance to Organization ABC's personnel on the corporate privacy policies, practices, and procedures for implementing applicable national and international privacy laws and regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its implementing regulations and the European Union (EU) Data Protection Directive and its implementation through national privacy laws of EU member states -- including involvement with website privacy policies, inter-entity data transfer agreements, and contract provisions relating to data protection.  Serve as Chair, Council on Data Protection (CODP), Organization ABC’s internal privacy board, chartered in August 2000, with broad representation throughout the company and reporting to the Office of the General Counsel, for monitoring the worldwide implementation of the company's privacy policies, practices, and procedures regarding the protection of individually identifiable information, including development and implementation of employee privacy training, management of privacy complaints, and providing guidance to personnel through the CODP Intranet site.
