
North Carolina Consumer Advisory Council on Health Information (NC CACHI)
NC CACHI is a grassroots consumer organization formed in 2006 by NCHICA. NC CACHI is comprised of members from diverse backgrounds and demographics including gender, race, ethnicity, education and age. Its mission is advocating for consumer rights related to health care, electronic health records, personal health records and health information exchange by:
- Obtaining consumer feedback to influence the development of state, national and organizational laws, regulations and policies.
- Providing input on privacy, security and patient consent issues.
- Working with regional, state and national consumer support groups to share ideas and develop consistent, current consumer messages.
- Fostering consumer awareness and engagement through educational materials, speakers and forums.
NC CACHI members are drawn from across the state and they are dedicated to the vision of empowering consumers in understanding and managing their personal health information.
